The Spa at Equinox Introduces 24K Gold Facial

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents The Spa at Equinox Introduces 24K Gold Facial.

Health & Beauty: The Spa at Equinox has formally entered the gilded age with the launch of their 24 karat gold collagen mask. The luxe facial, which was introduced earlier this month, showcases the healing and regenerative powers gold has on the skin.

The Spa is located on the lower level of Equinox at the Franklin Street location where you will be shown to a locker room filled with all of the traditional spa amenities. Once you have changed into a robe, head on over to the waiting area where you can relax with a magazine before entering the treatment room.

Over the next hour, you will be treated to a detailed skin condition analysis followed by a customized facial and décolletage massage topped off with a gold collagen mask. If you have pigmentation problems, dry or flaky skin this is definitely the facial for you.

The aestheticians here are extremely knowledgeable about skin conditions and will tailor the treatment to your individual needs after a thorough analysis. My treatment started off with a mild exfoliation followed by some extractions, which were relatively painless, then some cleansing, moisturizing, and of course, the 24 karat gold collagen mask.

This mask is designed to help moisturize, firm, whiten and brighten the skin as the gold powder blocks free radicals which helps the skin regenerate quicker and fuller. One of the nicest parts of the treatment was the surprise foot massage at the end.

After just one treatment, my face felt firmer and fresher in only an hour. The gold collagen mask delivers nutrients deep below the skin, fighting the underlying causes of facial wrinkles and aging skin. It not only helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and existing signs of aging, but it is also designed to help prevent future wrinkles from forming.

For $165, this just might be your fastest way to a healthy more radiant complexion.

Equinox Fitness Club is located at 225 Franklin Street, Boston. (There is a second location in the Back Bay at 131 Dartmouth Street).

For more information, call 617.426.2140 or visit www.equinox.com.

Beauty Tips: 7 Ways to Not Look Tired

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Beauty Tips: 7 Ways to Not Look Tired.

Health & Beauty: Women are always looking for new ways to keep them looking good on-the-go with easy to find fixes. Check out these seven quick tips to looking your best whether you're a new mom smack dab in the middle of 3 a.m. feedings or you're stranded in an airport on your way to Dubai.

Tip 1: Tired skin often looks pale and ashy. Use a facial self-tanner, such as Jergens facial moisturizer, to give your skin an instant glow. Don't be surprised if people start asking if you just returned from vacation!

Tip 2: Sharon Becker of SB Beauty recommends using Tarte's Eraser Concealer to cover dark circles and other imperfections. It also treats the skin with added ingredients that soothe inflamed skin and blemishes. "Looks like a magic marker and works like magic," she says.

Tip 3: To brighten up tired eyes, use a soft white eyeshadow in the corner of the eyes (not the lid), says esthetician and makeup artist, April Meese. "Highlighting the inner corner of the eyes brightens the eyes and makes any tired mom look more awake."

Tip 4: Groom your eyebrows: "The number one thing a mom (or any woman) can do to look more polished and lift the eye area is to get their eyebrows shaped and waxed (or plucked) and darken in remaining brows with a compact powder a shade or two darker than the natural brow," says celebrity style and image consultant Kami Gray.

Tip 5: Limp and greasy hair can make you look tired and fatigued. "A god-send to oily hair is PSSSSSST instant spray shampoo," says makeup artist Patty Bell. "If you don't have time to shampoo in the morning, one spritz on the roots and you are good to go...cornstarch or baby powder does the same thing."

Tip 6: Wake up your face with a multi-tasking lip and cheek stain, like this cool product from Three Custom Color Specialists. It instantly livens up a tired complexion by adding a pop of color to your cheeks and lips. The model pictured above is wearing the "Ski Bunny" stain on her lips and cheeks.

Tip 7: "Instantly wake up your eyes by using dark brown eyeliner (less harsh than black) and a swipe of taupe eyeshadow to counteract tired, pink eyes," says Dana Wood, author of Momover: The New Mom's Guide to Getting it Back Together. "And don't forget to curl your lashes, which will instantly make you look more awake."

LUX Beauty Bag: Au Naturel

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents LUX Beauty Bag: Au Naturel.

Recently, the face of beauty has changed.  In the past, it was all about caked on faces covering the tiniest of imperfections.  Nowadays, it’s all about embracing a natural glow that pays homage to prettiness in its most supple form.  The goal is to give an “I’m-not-trying-too-hard” vibe while still looking gorgeous. Keeping things natural is the best way to achieve that.

From sun-kissed cheeks to subtle lip wear, here at LadyLux, au naturel is taken to heart as we opt for appearances that tackle a “fresh-faced” aesthetic.  Due to this, we bring you seven luxurious products that are multi-functional, quick in application, and most importantly, natural in appearance. Overall, they aim to create looks that embrace true beauty on the barest of palettes.

1. Touche Eclat Radiant Touch by Yves Saint Laurent
Start off your makeup routine with Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat Radiant Touch to cover slight imperfections.  It’s a luminizing pen that attracts light and leaves you looking instantly rejuvenated. Apply it under tired-looking eyes for a sudden pick me up, or smooth some over sudden breakouts.  With this concealer at hand, the need for foundation will be left in the dust.  All you’ll need is a twist of YSL’s magic wand and it’s bare faced at its finest.

2. Tinted Moisturizer by Laura Mercier
Tinted moisturizer is an absolute godsend.  This lightweight option is a great alternative to foundation.  Although foundations do a great job at covering flaws, that’s all they’re good for. Otherwise they’re oily, heavy and easily transferable. Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer has dual capability. Not only can it be used as coverage, but it can also moisturize and brighten, leaving your skin completely glowing.  For this product, a little goes a long way and it’s easily applicable.  Simply squeeze out a dime-sized drop and use your fingers to apply it onto your face.  Being natural is all about looking barefaced, and with a tinted moisturizer, your face will easily manifest an au naturel existence.

3. Highlighting/Bronzing Blush Duo in Orgasm Blush and Laguna Bronzer by NARS
For a quintessential glow that is naturally beautiful, try out this blush and bronzer duo by NARS.  The subtle peachy-pink shimmer of the blush is paired wonderfully with the bronzer’s light brown shimmer, and creates a universally flattering shade bound to provide an organic flush.  How can one achieve a natural look using this combo?  Dust Orgasm blush over the apples of the cheeks and then finish with a sweep of the Laguna bronzer.  They’re wonderful in color but translucent enough to pile on and appear natural.

4. 5 Colour Designer Eyeshadows in Amber Design by Dior

After applying tinted moisturizer onto your face, accentuate your eyes. This will take your natural look up a notch. However, keep in mind that the goal is to stay natural.  Therefore, stray away from bright colors and dark shadows. Instead stick to your complexion and use neutral browns and golds, like Dior’s 5 Colour Designer Eyeshadow compact in Amber.  This is a perfect all-in-one eye palette that contains a creamy base, an iridescent eyeshadow, and a matte eyeliner. In order to achieve a natural face, take a brush and simply sweep the eyeshadow across your lid.  Add a bit of shimmer to the corner of your eyes to open them up. Then top them off with a thin application of eyeliner.  Keep in mind that when applying the eyeliner, to stick as close to the lashes as possible. We want to make your eyes stand out—not drown them in thick-rimmed charcoal.

5. Brow Zings by Benefit
The key to looking naturally gorgeous is to frame your eyes under beautifully defined brows. Benefit’s Brow Zings are perfect for filling in sparse spots and keeping brows natural.  It contains a soft, pigmented wax perfect for color as well as a color complementing setting powder and tweezers to help keep stray hairs in tact.  The best part about this product is that it refrains from creating penciled-in arches.  Instead, it has brows looking naturally dramatic for hours!  This is especially important when you plan on channeling Brooke Shields for the rest of the evening.

6. Makeup Lasting Lift Mascara by Shiseido
Nothing looks more natural than a pair of long, thick and beautifully curled lashes. They instantly scream femininity without doing too much.  To achieve this, top your eyes off with two or more coats of mascara.  It’s preferable that you opt for a tube built with multi-functional capabilities, then you won’t have to reach for the primer before thickening the coat.  Makeup Lasting Lift Mascara by Shiseido is a great multi-functional product.  Aside from lifting lashes to unimaginable heights, it provides lash definition, maximum curl, super volume, and a feather-light finish.  It’s also waterproof, oil-proof and sweat proof!  Lashes will feel clean and beautiful all day long.

7. Private Blend Color Lipstick by Tom Ford
Finish off your natural look with a touch of either nude or mauve lipstick. Stray away from bright colors, such as reds and oranges.  Although both are makeup favorites, the aim is to appear natural and not made up.  Try Tom Ford’s Private Blend Color Lipstick in Pink Dusk and Warm Sable. It’s a luxurious stick.  The nude and mauve colors are so appealing and perfect for imitating a natural pout.

Burberry Beauty: Mad About Plaid

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents: Burberry Beauty: Mad About Plaid.

They say ancient Greece is the seat of all civilization but it’s tempting to think that Great Britain was where it all started. Just look at what their proud civilization has produced:  The Royals, taking tea in the afternoon, the Mini Cooper, and the trench coat. The company practically synonymous with that all-important piece of outerwear has reached their steadfast hand into the beauty business, and come out looking great.

Burberry is already an iconic brand, one known for its signature plaid and its staying power in the world of traditional fashion. The new line of cosmetics, debuting this summer, was inspired by the company’s recognizable check as well as the evocative British countryside with its ever-stormy cool. Aptly entitled Burberry Beauty, the collection will hit stores hard this fall when everyone is back to school and back to work and looking for the most polished product to stash in their bag. Dutiful schoolgirls and women who love the classics will flock to the four-tiered line, one that recalls the English rose, the girl with a peaches and cream complexion whom everyone longs to look like. Think Carey Mulligan as the young Jenny in An Education or Keira Knightley in Atonement (or in anything). Designer Christopher Bailey’s aim was to create the product everyone wants, the kind with staying power. Let’s admit it:  part of the fun of certain cosmetics is the package they come in, with the benefits they deliver of course.

Burberry Beauty contains products for skin, eyes, lips, and a category called “glow”—their word for blush. Hats off to the creative team there:  It’s about time someone came up with a newer, bolder word for the color in our cheeks. After all, as Twenty-First century women, we are not delicate creatures who blush at the onslaught of others affections; we rather glow in the midst of it all. For skin, there is sheer foundation, sheer compact foundation (which is said to contain orange derivatives for an extra bit of glow—really), and sheer powder; glow has three products-light glow (containing rose extracts, known to produce extra moisturizing benefits), warm glow (their bronzer), and a chunky Burberry Beauty Brush with which to apply it all; eyes will see sheer eye shadow (said to be weather-inspired, with one shade named-you guessed it-trench), effortless mascara (with the addition of plant glycogen, said to speed up the growth of the lash fiber), and eye definer, or pencils; and lips can be covered in lip cover lipstick, lip glow, and lip definer pencils for outlining your pout. All are encased in the glowing trademark Burberry check, with all of the products-where they can be-imprinted with the check as well. Genius marketing, from just across the pond. It’s enough to bring out the Anglophile in all of us. Long live the line!

Purple Gaze: Smokey Eyes

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) invites you to read this article: Purple Gaze: Smokey Eyes.

There’s no doubt about it, purple gaze is here to stay as shades of mauve, plum and eggplant make a statement in this season’s smoky eye regime. Yes, a brief glimpse of the purple movement was evident in the spring and summer collections in the form of shimmery lavenders and creamy orchids. However, as the fashion year progresses, so does this super-fresh color palette as it adopts a more sultry and mature aesthetic. From ethereal lavenders to powerful plums, it’s no wonder women have fallen hard for the passionate hue.

Enthused with a purple state of mind, LadyLUX brings you products that embody lush class and mature femininity—two characteristics often lost when blending charcoal hues with darker lines.  Follow these cues for It’s a delicate take on the classically ubiquitous smoky eye.  Then finish it off with kissably soft pink lips and a light, matte face.

1. Prime Time Eyelid Primer by Bare Escentuals BareVitamins

Before anything, swipe a primer across your lids. Try bareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer as a preventable measure. It goes on sheer and lightweight, but provides a heavy-duty staying power perfect for all-night wear. Not only will it create a clean canvas to apply shadow on, but it will also prevent creases and help the color last longer. Basically, it will keep eyes smoky… and not smudgy.

2. Duo Eyeshadows by NARS
First, apply two shades of purple eyeshadow, like NARS’ Duo Eyeshadows in sets like Violetta or Jolie Poupee onto the lids using an eyeshadow brush. When applying the shade, sweep the lightest shade onto the middle of the lid.  Then sweep the darker shade onto the outer portions.  Afterwards, take the brush and blend the colors together in an attempt to rid away harsh lines. The key to beautiful smoky eyes is to blend, melting the colors together to create a hazy effect.  As for the iridescent color, brush something like Night Fairy by NARS over the crease and apply a bit at the corners to reflect light. With these colorful duos, sultry is done right and creating dynamic dimension.

3. Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner by Stila
When it comes to lining the eyes, one of two things can be done.  First off, take an angled brush, wet it with a little bit of water, and then dip it into the eye shadow to create a colored liner. When ready, line the eyes then smudge along both lash lines, seeing as how the shadow is more forgiving. If moist shadows don’t do it for you, then simply purchase a long-lasting eyeliner and line your upper and lower lash lines in an attempt to redefine the eye. Start at the middle of the lid and maneuver the pencil upwards to create a cat-like shape.  Try a waterproof eyeliner like Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner.  It has quick-dry precision and is super-easy to use, making it a must-have for any smoky-eye set up.

4. Eyelash Curler by Shu Uemura
Next, curl your lashes using an eyelash curler, such as Shu Uemura’s Eyelash Curler, which delivers the perfect curl with ultimate precision due to its mushroom shape. By curling the lashes your eyes will pop, appearing bigger and brighter.

5. Mascara Singulier by Yves Saint Laurent
After curling the lashes, apply several coats of mascara. This will volumize and accentuate the lashes that are now overpowered by the purple shadow.  Try a mascara that creates extreme volume, length and curl, like Yves Saint Laurent’s Mascara Singulier. This gives off exaggerated lashes and a dramatic styling—a perfect touch to a pair beautiful peepers.

Easy Tricks to Make Your Teeth Look Whiter

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) invites you to read this article: Easy Tricks to Make Your Teeth Look Whiter.

You can easily romanticize a few laugh lines (hey — every wrinkle is but a notch in the quiet calendar of a well-spent life, according to Dickens). But time's effects on your smile can be considerably harder to write off, no matter how talented the scribe. There's the yellowing or graying of teeth, the thinning of lips, the appearance of lip lines...and the list goes on. On the bright side, home tools that fight tooth discoloration (to say nothing of the latest in-office procedures) are getting ultra high-tech, and there are plenty of low-tech anti-aging essentials, too. Read on for these, plus top dermatologist and makeup-artist tips for adding major spark — and sparkle — to your smile.

Tooth Care (Or Consequences)

However unsexy, nuts-and-bolts dental hygiene is key to keeping your smile young-looking. "Your teeth control the lower third of your face," says New York City dentist Michael Apa, D.D.S. Their gradual wearing down and shifting with age contributes to the formation of frown lines and the hollowing of the cheeks. Tooth decay and loss only exacerbate these issues. In addition to what you already know (brush at least twice a day, floss once a day, and see a dentist regularly), here are some things you may not:

1. Rinse your mouth after every meal or glass of wine — red or white. "White wine has acids that penetrate the enamel, allowing staining and decaying food particles to penetrate more easily," says New York City dentist and Supersmile creator Irwin Smigel, D.D.S. Red, by contrast, creates only superficial staining. But whatever you eat or drink, a subtle swishing and swallowing of water right away at the table helps minimize residue, staining, and tooth decay, says Smigel.

2. Chew sugarless gum. "As you age, your salivary glands shrink and produce less saliva, which is a natural antimicrobial that helps prevent decay," says Smigel. "But gum chewing restimulates the flow."

3. Floss down into your gums, not just between your teeth. Plaque and bacteria can get stuck in those voids, causing inflammation and decay.

4. Ask your dentist to check the state of your fillings. "Every filling eventually has to be replaced," says New York City dentist Marc Lowenberg, D.D.S. Silver, or amalgam, lasts between 10 and 20 years, so your childhood dental work may be overdue for replacement. Fresh fillings can help prevent tooth decay and loss — and, down the road, root canals and implants.

5. Consider orthodontics if your teeth have shifted significantly. "Your jaw is shifting along with your teeth," says Apa. "Left unchecked, the situation can create a collapsed look" (think Disney's Evil Queen disguised as the old lady in Snow White). Invisalign or behind-the-teeth braces are the subtlest options for grown-ups. Ranging from $3,500 to $8,000, the investment for them isn't small. But the long-term payoff is big.

Lip Service

The skin surrounding your mouth and teeth is as much an element of a youthful smile as your teeth themselves. Your lips, like all exposed skin, need a high-SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen: "UV damage can manifest as inflammation of the lips, redness and flaking, and, over time, wrinkling and even cancer," says Macrene Alexiades, Ph.D., M.D., a dermatologist in New York City. An important aside: Though skin cancer of the lips is uncommon, when it does form, it tends to spread to the lymph nodes very quickly. Try Blistex Five Star Lip Protection ($2.50, drugstores) with SPF 30 or Kiehl's Lip Balm SPF 15 ($9.50, kiehls.com).

To combat wrinkling of the skin around the mouth, start with Olay Professional Pro X Deep Wrinkle Treatment ($42, drugstores) for eight weeks; if you don't see results, move up to prescription Renova. For pronounced peaks and valleys, you may want to ask your dermatologist about injectables. A hyaluronic acid filler like Juvéderm or Restylane — ranging in price from a few hundred to a thousand dollars or so, depending on the area you're treating and the area you live in — is delicate enough to plump the fine lines above and below the mouth. Dr. Alexiades likes to pair one of the aforementioned fillers with Botox. "It's the best crowd-pleaser for instant gratification," she says.

5 New Celebrity Fragrances

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) invites you to read this article: 5 New Celebrity Fragrances.

Halle Berry
Halle Berry is launching her third new fragrance.

The Oscar-winning beauty has joined forces with cosmetics giant Coty to produce her new "floral" perfume Reveal.

The 43-year-old admits she has been surprised by the success of her perfume range so far - her debut scent Halle by Halle Berry was launched last year and Pure Orchid just five months ago - and wanted to expand it further because she loves wearing different fragrances.

She told WWD: "I've always wanted to have my own scent. When I was younger, I never wanted to smell like every other girl in class. Even as an adult, I'd mix different perfumes together.

"Some days it would be great and people would say, 'Oh, what fragrance is that?' And I would say, 'Well, it's about five different ones!' "

Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing at Coty, said : "Halle is an actress and a very emotional person - she loves art and beauty, and she's a great creator. Halle's fragrances resonate with the consumer much more than we thought. we are double in size."

He added to the actress at the fragrance launch in New York: "I guess we underestimated your fan base."

Despite becoming an instant scent success, Halle, who has a two-year-old daughter Nahla, was uncertain her perfumes would be popular.

She added: "We weren't sure what to expect. I was more worried than anybody."

Following the success of her collection so far, the new scent will be available in both "mid-tier" department stores and mass market shops.

Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue has a beautiful new fragrance available from July, 2010. A modern floral oriental amber, Kylie Minogue Pink Sparkle is a sparkling blend of juicy fruit notes and luscious champagne accord combined with the sensuality of gardenia musk.

The Eau de Toilette 30ml is $30 and the 50ml is $39, and will be in Priceline, Big W, Target and selected pharmacies nationally.

We don’t know about you but we love ourselves a Kylie fragrance!

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez always wants to make her perfumes "sexy".

The singer-and-actress thinks she drove manufacturers Coty "crazy" when creating the specific scent she was looking for with her new fragrance Love and Glamour.

She said: "I drive Coty a little bit crazy. Because it's always not signature enough. I go back and say things like, 'Can we push the sandalwood a little bit more, can we make it a tiny bit more sexy?'

"To translate that into actual chemistry is a difficult thing. Then they go back and say, 'What does she mean by sexy?' And I'm like, 'You know if you take that little piece that smells a little bit like wood but has a little bit of musk? But I just want you to add a little bit of sweetness. Can you do that for me?'

"And then I think we are in the right direction. And then they come with one or two variations and I say, 'No, that's not it.' It's a long process."

Jennifer loves creating a scent because there are so many different avenues to explore in designing a "unique" fragrance.

She added in an interview with WWD: "Making the bottle, creating the packaging, creating the campaign - it's all so much easier than creating the juice. You always want to create something signature - that's always kind of what I'm pushing for when working with Coty. You want it to be a combination that people have never smelled before. It's always an exciting time, because the sky's the limit and it can go in any direction."

Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige's debut perfume pays tribute to confident woman.

The 'Stronger' singer has teamed up with beauty brand Carol's Daughter to create her first fragrance, My Life, and says it has been inspired by her personality.

She said: "It is the epitome of a confident woman. It doesn't scream out for attention - it's feminine but strong, powerful yet humble. It is my life." She also wanted to design the scent for her fans and pay homage to her female followers.

She said: "It's a special tribute to us as women . . . we're soft, we're edgy - we're all those things. And I wanted this perfume to represent every female's everyday life."

The fragrance is described as a fruity floral and its ingredients include gardenia, pear, freesia, tuberose, jasmine, and lily.

The scent will be sold exclusively on online shopping website HSN.com for $46, with one dollar from the purchase of each bottle donated to her charity, FFAWN, which helps women succeed through scholarships and grants.

Eva Longoria
Eva Longoria Parker developed her own fragrance because she is allergic to so many ingredients.

The 'Desperate Housewives' actress admitted she was always envious of other women who could wear perfume, and it had never occurred to her to make her own out of the ingredients that wouldn't make her sneeze.

Speaking at the launch of her fragrance, Eva by Eva Longoria Parker at her Beso restaurant in Los Angeles, she said: "I've been allergic my entire life. If someone were wearing perfume next to me, I would sneeze and sneeze and sneeze.

"I always admired people who wore perfume - I was like, 'Gosh, I wish I could wear one. My agent said, 'Why don't you make one?' "

The resulting scent has warm, citrusy tones which Eva has branded a "day fragrance".

She added: "I wanted something clean and fresh. Something that smelled like you just got out of the shower. And that's how I came up with the scent." Eva wore a beaded Rafael Cennamo dress to the launch, which was also attended by a host of celebrities including her 'Desperate Housewives' co-stars Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman.

Eva's husband, basketball player Tony Parker, had to miss the event because he had a game, but sent her a big screen message to wish her luck.

Paco Rabanne Launches Women’s Edition of 1 Million Fragrance

After having sold more than 1 million bottles of fragrance for men, Paco Rabanne has launched its female counterpart – the Lady Million.

A joint effort by IFF’s Anne Flipo, Béatrice Piquet and Dominique Ropion, the fragrance was recently presented in Paris to French and international press along with the avant-garde designer’s iconic metal dresses. Designed by trained sculptor Noé Duchaufour-Lawrence (who also made the 1 Millionth bottle), the Lady Million is a graceful and tantalizing scent in a multi-faceted bottle with a softly gilded metal cap, which serves a symbol of the designer’s famous metal dresses. The shape of the bottle that resembles a multi-faceted diamond was inspired by the famous Regent diamond.

Lady Million is a fresh woody floral with top notes encompassing floral nectar, lemon, and raspberry that gradually blend into a heart of orange blossom, neroli, and sambac jasmine (an Asian bloom). Bottom notes contain patchouli, gardenia, and honey.

Lady Million will be available in eau de parfum, body lotion, and shower gel at fine department and drug stores (The Bay, Sears, Sephora, Shoppers Drug Mart, Jean Coutu, and London Drugs) and will retail from July as a 50ml and 80ml edp spray, priced at around €52 and €68 respectively in travel retail.

FYI: The fragrance took 19 months to create, and 2,500 different versions were tested before the right formula was reached.
